Zero to Sixty
With the exception of Monday night, this has been an extremely lazy week. Monday night is my current regular weekly hoop jam and this week I managed to ‘rug burn’ the top on my left foot on the hardwood floor. I’m not at all aware of how common hardwood-floor-burn is, but it hurts a surprisingly terrible amount. Not at the time it happens, because I didn’t feel anything until I was putting my socks and shoes back on and even then it was only a slight sting. There was no blood or anything, just a little red mark I figured would fade away in a few hours.
No big deal right?
Wrong!
At some point in time my little abrasion decided to turn into a full on zombie bite all pissed off and inflamed and sensitive to anything even remotely brushing against it. Then a magical scab appeared and the rest is zombie foot history. Ha! Just kidding, it’s been burning like hell all week. Socks and shoes are such a delight now.
Every other day this week has been an attempt at maximum slothiness full of stretchy pants, ice cream, Nintendo and X-Files. Pretty much like all of January! But now it’s February and this weekend has so much going on I can barely wrap my head around it. Young Empires are playing a show tonight and Cosmic Gate is playing a show tomorrow and we already made plans with friends for both nights over a week ago. It’s almost as if for every fun-void weekend we had in January, February has decided to have so much going on it almost makes you upset to have to choose one thing over another.
Fun, why can’t you just be evenly spaced?
Listaholic
I’m a bit of an obsessive compulsive list maker. I make lists for EVERYTHING! Grocery lists, To-Do lists, packing lists, lists for things I have and lists for things I don’t have. I have them stuck to my fridge, in my pockets and my purse, I have lists on sticky notes stuck all over my workspace. It’s a little bit crazy.
But writing things down is generally how I keep track of things in my unfocused scramble-brain and list making is one of the few ways I stay organized. As my only resolution this year is to do more things that I love and one of the things I love most is doing things with my hands, I decided to construct a list of projects I’ve been meaning to do for a while and post it here.
I’ll add to it as I think of more projects I’d like to do, cross them off as I complete them and link to posts sharing whatever project I’ve completed. I’m hoping this list leads to more finished products, that more finished projects leads to more blogging, more blogging leads to being able to cross something off a completely different list, which all ends up in double fulfillment for me!
Huzzah!
2012
Happy New Year!
I like to give the New Year a week to settle in before I go getting excited or making any solid resolutions. That way, I can feel things out and get a general idea on how things are probably going to go. Also, I am a notorious procrastinator.
There’s been a lot of hype about 2012 and the world coming to an end. That being said, if this is really our last year to live as fleshy, squishy humans, we should probably all be making it as awesome as possible. I am therefore dubbing 2012 as the year to ‘Don’t ask questions, just make shit happen.’
We’re a week into 2012 but I’m already 2 weeks into quitting smoking, have Shambhala tickets despite them being sold out online and not knowing anyone in BC, and am doing 18 hours of hoop training with Baxter in March.
If I want to eat chocolate everyday, which I usually do, then I’m just going to go get myself some of the extra fancy organic stuff and enjoy the hell of it. I’m eating some right now and it’s not even noon.
See? I’m already making shit happen.
Another Trip Around the Sun
Today marks the successful completion of my 28th journey around the sun since I burst into existence.
I plan to eat a lot of cake.
I also plan on drastically changing my current life plan, if you will, by leaving my job and seeing how I fare as a self employed bum. If the sky’s the limit then I’m gonna aim for outer space.
Let’s hope I don’t fall flat on my face!
What are my immediate plans? This blog for one. It’s been pretty neglected over the years. Kind of a project waiting to happen, but work or life has always gotten in the way. Now I will have my new unemployment to document and all the things I’ll be able to do with the free time I’m going to have. Secondly, I am going to work on moving my glass studio out of my parents garage and to someplace in the city where I can utilize it more than a handful of times a year. Thirdly I am going to see if music production is something I really want to pursue other than just a fantasy in my head.
I wouldn’t be able to do this if I didn’t have an amazing person and people in my life supporting me. So thank you lover and thank you friends, thank you family and thank you Universe for steering me into the position I need to be in today!
I’m ready, set, go for my next lap around the sun.
